Peggy Brennan, a licensed, Board Certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, is committed to helping the couples and individuals she serves to realize the myriad of possibilities for their relationships and lives. She specializes in marriage counseling, IMAGO couples therapy and individual psychotherapy. Her work in mental health exceeds 30 years and spans settings from acute care to home care, hospice care, and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. 

Her office is located in Fairfax, VA in the Washington, DC area, where she is approaching 15 years in private practice. Peggy utilizes her skills and training in Imago couples therapy, EMDR, EGO STATE Therapy, Imagery, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Sensorimotor techniques to assist her clients move toward growth and healing from life events involving divorce, trauma, fear, grief and depression.

Peggy’s passion for her work is manifest in her empathic attunement to her clients’ life stories, their needs and desires, and in her strong belief that Couples and Individuals, when empowered, can gain insight and understanding, plus make cognitive and behavioral changes that move them forward. She feels privileged to be a witness in this process.

Peggy received both her BS and MS in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from VCU-MCV School of Nursing in Richmond, VA. From that experience and her work in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, she developed an holistic perspective, strengthening her understanding of Mind, Body, and Spirit Connection.

She believes every day presents opportunities for growth, that healing in the present helps us weave wounds from the past into our lives such that we are no longer consumed and limited by them.
